We had the good fortune to attend a review of the Hackitt Report on 25 July at the offices of Kattens. It was exceptionally interesting and well presented by Geoff Wilkinson of Wilkinson Construction Consultants and Kattens’ Matthew Needham-Laing.
It highlighted the many perceived failures of the construction industry as viewed by Dame Hackitt. Her findings highlighted the essential need for grass roots to most senior management changes in the way we organise and execute our industry. The recommendations will require changes in law which should receive the full backing of all sides of Parliament but will inevitably be a slow process.
The Report should be compulsory reading for everyone with an interest in or connection to construction.
